Next Steps...

Rachel’s transfer to the rehab center is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday 9/11). We are packed and ready to go take “next steps” together. I have reserved accommodations at Helen’s House, which is associated with the facility and across the street from the rehab center.  

There are so many reasons to be thankful!

Rachel has been cleared for discharge from AdventHealth Daytona Beach (tomorrow will be 79 days from being admitted).

She currently has no fevers, infections, bed sores (or any issues related to her skin), no other complications that may hinder her from participating in the scheduled 3 hours/day of PT (physical therapy) at Brooks. 

Thank you to the 70+ RN’s that have provided us with the most tender & excellent professional care! 

(I have made more than 70 notations in my journal of specific moments that are listed under the title, “My Blessings!”)

Thanks to the entire team of specialists that have comprised our amazing ICU experience. (Nearly 40 total by my best count…from RT, Nutrition, PT/OT, Techs, Charge Nurses, & housekeeping) 

A special word of gratitude to my “brother” Juan from housekeeping…keep smiling bro, it’s powerful!

To the Doctors, Surgeons and their associates, we thank you for your skill, accuracy, expertise & determination. I never once felt like we were just another case. 

To all of you from the depth of our family’s heart & with tears of joy in my eyes, I look towards heaven on your behalf, and thank God for you!
